3,000 people celebrated last night, Saturday for the Aid for AIDS benefit “Black and White Party” at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas where ISVodka was one of the sponsors.
AFAN (Aid for AIDS in Nevada) is a non-profit organization which provides education and support for families affected by HIV/AIDS in Southern Nevada. Founded in 1984 it has helped over 2,000 men, women and children with the HIV virus. AFAN provides food programs, service programs, community outreach programs, education and prevention programs as well as direct client service programs to enhance the quality of life for adults and children living with the disease in Nevada.
A spectacular line-up of entertainers graced the stage including Japanese drummers, jugglers, fire-eaters, mermaids and mermen, DJs, Cirque du Soleil style acrobats and singer/impersonators Cher and Tina Turner. Even Charo, flamenco guitarist and singer did a number. The evening was capped off by a special performance by Frank Marino, star female impersonator and headliner in Vegas for La Cage, the show at the Riviera for the last 20 years. Celebs including the Men of X who perform at Hooters and Penn and Teller who perform at the Rio were in the audience.
The doors opened at 9pm at The Joint, the newly renovated concert theater in the Hard Rock Hotel. Guests poured in for the party. Las Vegas restaurants such as Brio Tuscan Grille, Outback Steakhouse, BOA Steakhouse, Sushi Roku, Dos Caminos and P.F. Chang‘s served plate after plate of steak kabobs, diced chicken on iceberg, shrimp and fish salads, fine prosciutto on cheese crackers with salad, sushi rolls and more.
Dessert was provided by The Cupcakery. Over 3,200 mini-cupcakes were baked for the occasion! But that’s not all. The Cupcakery did a little “cake walk.” 2 lovely ladies dressed in Marie Antoinette wigs with large hoop dresses that were actually mirrored tables on wheels able to carry hundreds of cupcakes! As the ladies walked around the room, guests picked cupcakes off their “table skirts.” Very creatively done.
ISVodka, one of the spirits sponsors had lines around the booth with thirsty folks waiting to have a shot of ISVodka from the IS ice sculpture poured by Gabriel, our IS Man or a martini made by Robyn, one of our IS Angels. Our booth was swamped from 9pm to 1 am! Besides shots of ISVodka, guests could order an IS Queen, ISd Bull or ISy Dicey cocktail. The sexy Men of X enjoyed ISVodka as well as GLBT PRIDE promoters dressed in 8 foot butterfly wings.
Everyone danced and partied on the dance floor in front of the stage to hip hop and rock by the DJ. You could also visit the 2nd and 3rd floor galleries where more booths were set up. Tatoo artists, spin the wheel fun, cookie companies, balloon artists, flower shops, costume photo opps, AFAN information and more entertained guests. What a night!
